Well, I tried. The dessert I made for the Sips in the Sticks luncheon held recently at Sue Bell’s historic Glen Roy shearing shed in Coonawarra was unplaced. I am already working on strategy for next year’s event, when apparently we have to create a dessert inspired by a local chef we admire. Not sure if David Swain at Fino will want anything to do with me after coming unplaced in the last 2 events.
Clint Jasper from the ABC came down from Renmark to follow the keenly fought dessert contest at this final event of the 2014 Adelaide Food and Wine Festival. Judges were Senator Penny Wong, Minster for Agriculture Leon Bignell, Wine writer and commentator Max Allen and Penola food identity and legend Kate Spencer.
Here is a radio segment aired on ABC Rural about the event. Well done Anna Hooper from Cape Jaffa on your South African milk tart which won. It was delicious.
