The Battle of Bosworth 2011 Puritan {no added preservative} Shiraz earned itself a Gold medal and Trophy for Best Preservative Free wine at the 2011 Organic Wine Show Australia and New Zealand. The Puritan was also the highest pointed Shiraz in the competition. Thanks Chief Judge Max Allen on his blog www.realaustralianwines.blogspot.com for his comments;
‘This preservative-free red fair bursts out of the glass: heaps of joyful blackfruit, but layers, too, of more complex flavour – garrigue (wild thyme, dried oregano) and game (rare seared venison, I think)’
The wine show judges (which included Sam Connew from Tower Estate and John Osbeiston from Ultimo Cellars in Sydney) agreed with Max, albeit with far fewer words,
‘v raw and essencey, bold fruit – garrigue and game – blackberry crumble’
